About the Opportunity
Our nationally acclaimed healthcare client, celebrated for their clinical excellence and innovation, is currently seeking a results-driven Director of Nursing to lead their Emergency Services division. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who can balance operational excellence with outstanding patient care delivery in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
Role Overview
The Director of Nursing will be accountable for managing the overall performance and direction of the emergency department. The successful candidate will ensure regulatory compliance, drive process improvement, support professional development among staff, and uphold a strong culture of patient-centered care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the Emergency Services team with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and clinical excellence
- Oversee daily departmental functions to ensure high performance and patient safety
- Establish and monitor quality standards to continuously improve care outcomes
- Manage departmental budgeting, staffing, and resource planning
- Promote staff development through mentoring, coaching, and formal training programs
- Ensure adherence to state, federal, and organizational compliance standards
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program AND a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, or
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or another relevant field in healthcare
Licensure & Certifications:
- Active California RN license in good standing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- MICN (Mobile Intensive Care Nurse) – must be obtained within 12 months of hire
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in a leadership capacity within a hospital setting (manager, charge nurse, or similar)
- 3 to 5 years of clinical and operational experience in emergency services, with a track record of increasing responsibility
