Position: Director of Plant Operations

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead the maintenance team, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and schedules to optimize maintenance operations.
- Collaborate with various hospital departments to ensure smooth facility operations with minimal interruptions.
Facilities Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Supervise critical building systems, including fire safety equipment, emergency generators, and elevators.
- Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and lifespan.
- Ensure the upkeep of hospital grounds, parking areas, and overall facility appearance.
Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and Joint Commission standards.
- Prepare for and participate in facility inspections and audits.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and regulatory documentation.
Budgeting & Planning
- Manage the department budget, including forecasting costs for labor, materials, and capital projects.
- Collaborate with leadership on long-term facility planning and execute major renovations or upgrades.
- Oversee vendor contracts for outsourced maintenance and repair services.
Crisis Management
- Respond to emergencies such as equipment failures, power outages, or natural disasters.
- Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in a related field or 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in a leadership role (preferably in healthcare).
- Strong understanding of healthcare-specific regulations and codes.
- Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM).
- 2 years of experience in acute care.
- Proven ability to lead teams and perform effectively under pressure.
Preferred:
- Expertise in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and patient care systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience managing maintenance or facilities teams in a healthcare setting.
Key Skills:
- Deep knowledge of building systems, construction, and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
