Overview
Our Award-Winning Client is seeking a Float RN to provide professional nursing care within the assigned department. The ideal candidate will have experience in Emergency Department (ED) and Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Unit (MS/PCU) and be proficient in patient assessment, pain management, and medication administration. This position requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to function well under stressful situations. The Resource RN will be responsible for coordinating care planning, communicating with physicians, and delivering care that meets the psychosocial, physical, and general needs of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional nursing care within the assigned department
- Coordinate care planning with other disciplines
- Determine priorities of care based on patients' physical and psychosocial needs
- Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient status
- Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments per policy
- Assess and manage pain effectively, utilizing appropriate techniques
- Educate patients and families regarding pain management
- Revise the plan of care as indicated by patient response to treatment
- Provide patient care in accordance with the standard of care for their age group
- Administer medications correctly based on patient age and clinical condition
- Follow the six (6) medication rights to minimize errors
- Develop and implement individualized teaching plans, evaluating their effectiveness
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform necessary technical and manual skills
- Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia identification, and ACLS protocol-based treatments
- Monitor patients' hemodynamic status and accurately interpret results
- Deliver care to patients with compromised nutritional/metabolic status and extensive fluid/electrolyte management needs
- Communicate effectively with charge nurses, coworkers, and physicians
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to patient care
- Demonstrate flexibility, strong organization, and the ability to function well under stress
- Other duties as assigned
Schedule and Shift Details:
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours guaranteed weekly
- Every other weekend required
Compensation:
- Hourly Range: $31.00 - $43.00 (based on experience)
- Salary Range: $64,480 - $89,440 (based on a 40-hour work week)
Additional Requirements:
- 2 years of experience required
- MUST BE WILLING TO FLOAT – THIS IS A FLOAT POSITION!
- Must be adaptable and ready to assist as a Resource RN wherever needed
- High proficiency in ED and MS/PCU required
- Experience in MS, ED, and PCU/MS required
- Willingness to be assigned to a unit and assist with transfers, admissions, etc.
- Rural/small facility experience highly preferred
- COVID vaccination required
- ACLS required
- PALS or ENPC required within 6 months of hire
