Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager
Position Overview
Our client, a leading firm in the heavy civil construction industry, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee large-scale infrastructure projects. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and within budget. The selected candidate will also play a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with owners, clients, and stakeholders to drive business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of heavy civil construction projects, ensuring timely completion.
- Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor financial aspects of contracts, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining profitability.
- Conduct site visits and hold regular status meetings to track project progress.
- Approve invoices, payroll hours, and oversee billing processes.
- Respond to RFIs, process change orders, and manage submittals.
- Collaborate with Superintendents, Project Engineers, and Field Engineers to ensure project success.
- Implement problem-solving strategies to mitigate risks and address challenges proactively.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience:
- 5 years as a Project Engineer on heavy civil construction projects, including bridges, roadways, excavation, concrete structures, and drainage systems.
- 2 years supervising or managing junior project engineers.
- 5 years interpreting blueprints and specifications for heavy civil projects.
- 5 years responding to customer inquiries, regulatory agencies, or business professionals.
- 5 years handling RFIs, change orders, and submittals.
- Proven ability to analyze complex issues, collect data, and develop effective solutions.
