Lead Metallurgical Lab Operations – Carbide Expertise Required

Position Responsibilities
- Lead laboratory operations and provide metallurgical expertise with a focus on tungsten carbide processes.
- Support the company’s quality management system through knowledgeable application of ISO processes and ASTM specifications.
- Assist operations with technical guidance for manufacturing changes, product quality improvements, and new equipment capability evaluations.
- Collaborate with purchasing teams on raw material requirements, supplier development, and incoming material reviews.
- Provide technical support to the sales team, including customer complaint resolution, product evaluations, and bid support.
- Design components with technical advisement on the suitability of metals for various applications.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and product deviations.
- Provide technical leadership for new product testing using destructive and non-destructive techniques.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment, testing protocols, and documentation control.
- Maintain strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and drive initiatives to completion.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, or a related Engineering field.
- Minimum of 10 years of material science or metallurgical experience.
- Experience in tungsten cobalt powder formulation, pressing, and sintering processes.
- HIP sintering experience is a plus.
- Experience in wear tool design and carbide brazing processes.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and their applications is a plus.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and applicable quality management system software.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive quality initiatives.
- Must have Carbide experience
