2nd Shift Operations Manager – Food Manufacturing

Our Award-Winning Client, a leader in high-output food packaging and manufacturing, is seeking a hands-on, experienced 2nd Shift Operations Manager to oversee daily production during the evening shift at their growing facility in Pleasant Grove, UT. With recent internal promotions and continued business expansion, this is a key leadership role responsible for driving performance, maintaining product integrity, and fostering a team-first culture on the plant floor.

Schedule
- Second Shift Hours: 3 PM – 11 PM
- Strong collaboration with first shift for transition planning and issue resolution
- Established support systems from quality, logistics, and plant leadership teams
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee second shift production across multiple packaging lines, ensuring throughput targets, safety standards, and quality metrics are consistently met.
- Lead and manage four shift supervisors and a team of 90–100 hourly employees, ensuring a productive and collaborative work environment.
- Coordinate daily priorities and communicate production issues with the first shift team for smooth handoffs and continuity.
- Track and analyze shift KPIs including labor hours, material usage, waste, and output; make real-time adjustments based on data and observations.
- Collaborate with warehouse and quality assurance teams to maintain schedule adherence and product compliance.
- Lead daily huddles and performance reviews, establishing a high-performing team culture rooted in accountability and respect.
- Utilize ERP systems and Microsoft Excel to manage production data, reporting, and decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace safety, and regulatory audit standards through proactive leadership and documentation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing production teams, ideally in food manufacturing or other fast-paced, multi-line operations.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing large teams and overseeing complex shift-level operations.
- Effective communicator with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, labor tracking, and efficiency reporting tools.
- Strong coaching skills and the ability to lead through change and challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
