Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical
About the Position
Our healthcare partner, a nationally recognized organization, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for their Medical-Surgical unit. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Administer medications, collect specimens, and perform clinical treatments to support patient recovery.
- Conduct thorough assessments and deliver comprehensive care based on individual needs.
Care Coordination
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop, document, and communicate patient care plans.
- Work closely with physicians, specialists, and families to ensure continuity of care.
Patient Monitoring
- Monitor and document patient conditions with accuracy, promptly addressing any critical changes.
- Maintain patient safety while delivering consistent, high-quality care.
Daily Support
- Assist with hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and other daily activities to promote patient comfort and recovery.
- Provide respectful and compassionate support in all aspects of patient care.
Team Collaboration
- Facilitate patient transfers, discharges, and referrals to ensure seamless transitions.
- Address the spiritual and psychosocial needs of patients in coordination with support teams.
Patient and Family Education
- Provide personalized education that is culturally sensitive and appropriate for different age groups.
- Equip patients and families with the knowledge and tools to manage health conditions effectively.
Advocacy
- Support the physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being of patients.
- Ensure patient preferences and needs are prioritized and respected.
Qualifications
Licensure:
- Active RN license in Kentucky or a Compact State.
- New graduates may practice under a provisional Kentucky license for up to six months, with permanent licensure required within that timeframe.
Education:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be obtained within 45 days of hire).
Experience:
- Previous acute care experience is preferred.
