Safety Coordinator

In this role, you will be a key resource for field employees, leading safety, health, and risk management initiatives. With a focus on proactive compliance with OSHA/MSHA and DOT/FMCSA regulations, you will spend most of your time in the field, ensuring safety excellence and operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site visits to enforce and promote safety protocols across jobsites, plants, shops, and pits.
- Lead hazard assessments, corrective action planning, and site evaluations.
- Develop and present effective safety training sessions, project-specific safety plans, and employee education programs.
- Manage and implement company safety policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory updates and technological advancements.
- Investigate incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
- Collaborate with construction and transportation teams to develop traffic control plans and ensure safe project execution.
- Maintain thorough documentation of safety activities, including incident reports, claims, and compliance records.
- Serve as a liaison with OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory agencies to ensure company-wide compliance.
- Support leadership development, safety culture initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Oversee the procurement and management of safety equipment and materials within budget constraints.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3–5 years of field safety management experience in heavy-civil construction.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety practices.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver engaging safety training programs.
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills to effectively influence teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license, U.S. work authorization, and ability to pass pre-employment substance testing.
Preferred:
- Safety certifications such as ASP, CHST, OSHA 510/500, MSHA Blue Card, or other relevant credentials.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing safety programs for heavy-civil construction projects, including highways, trenching, excavation, underground utilities, and site development. They excel at risk identification, safety strategy implementation, and coaching a diverse workforce to maintain high safety standards.
Work Schedule & Travel:
- Typically 8–12-hour shifts, 5 days per week.
- Some nights, weekends, and extended hours may be required based on project needs.
- Primarily local travel to job sites, with up to 10% overnight travel.
