VDC Manager – Mission Critical
Position Overview:
Our Award-Winning Client is actively seeking a VDC Manager to oversee Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) processes across multiple high-profile projects. This role requires deep expertise in BIM technology, lean construction principles, and project coordination to drive efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing best practices in VDC execution, managing BIM workflows, and ensuring seamless integration of digital construction technologies to support project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage VDC processes across multiple large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain VDC strategies while overseeing BIM technology standards and workflows.
- Provide accurate and timely 3D modeling and documentation, ensuring alignment with project specifications and owner requirements.
- Establish and maintain clear and effective documentation, including meeting agendas, constraint logs, and project execution plans.
- Interpret shop drawings, submittals, and product data, incorporating them into the BIM process for streamlined project execution.
- Drive efficiency in RFI processes, ensuring timely responses to BIM-related inquiries from project stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and internal project teams to facilitate seamless project collaboration.
- Manage change processes, tracking and communicating schedule and budget impacts to operational teams in a timely manner.
- Provide technical BIM support to internal teams, offering guidance on best practices, standards, and VDC technology utilization.
- Ensure all BIM execution plans, front-end scopes of work, and compliance requirements are met or exceeded.
- Oversee the development of composite 3D models, integrating contributions from designers and trade contractors.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in BIM technology solutions and apply them effectively to project workflows.
- Lead cross-functional teams through VDC processes, supporting design, construction, and operational phases of complex projects.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, integrating lean principles and innovative processes to enhance project outcomes.
- Collaborate with VDC Directors and Self-Perform VDC teams to ensure smooth execution of virtual design initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Science, or a related field (Required).
- In lieu of a degree, relevant experience will be considered.
- 5 years of experience in construction or a related field (Required).
- 5 years of BIM-related experience (Required).
- Advanced expertise in MS Office and BIM technology solutions such as:
- Revit
- Navisworks
- AutoCAD
- Trimble
- Synchro
- Strong knowledge of Lean Construction principles and their application in VDC processes.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to resolve complex challenges quickly.
- Ability to lead teams through the VDC process, ensuring best practices and compliance with project requirements.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly.
- Strong relationship-building skills, fostering collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement BIM project requirements with precision.
- Experience in establishing project-specific VDC technology solutions to support efficient project execution.
