Rate of Pay: 1.0 FTE
202 day agreement/year
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Oregon School Counselor’s License.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff using traditional and contemporary technological means.
- Ability to help foster positive student behavior.
- Understand child and adolescent development and apply this knowledge to assisting teachers with student academic advising - and learning needs.
- Understand and implement trauma informed best practices.
- Understand skills/strategies for meeting the diverse needs of students and utilize them effectively.
- Understand Oregon essential skills requirements and how to build plans to personalize student-learning experiences.
- Understand the importance of relationships in counseling, teaching and learning and use this understanding to create and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students and families.
- Utilize technology to assist in managing student information, including monitoring student progress, tracking academic needs and tracking credit completion.
- Demonstrate pattern of attendance and punctuality for work and work activities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional experience in a K-12 educational setting working with online, at risk and early college students.
- License to teach, or ability to obtain license to teach, HD100 and other college preparatory courses.
REPORTS TO: Assigned Administrator
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively with Metro East Web Academy counseling department, staff, and students/parents.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement the ASCA standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program for all students who are learning through online instruction and/or the community college setting.
- Assist students in their development socially, emotionally, and academically. This includes the areas of career development and community involvement.
- Provide direct student services as well as staff support to help students develop the ability to learn, to work and to live in a partnership between home, school and the community.
- Follow school policies and standard practices, while working collaboratively with teachers and families.
- Assist students in achieving their academic objectives by building an individual educational plan through regular communication and individual meetings.
- Work towards a goal of 100% participation for students in the early college program to participate in all state and local assessments.
- Establish a professional growth plan and annually review progress.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB GOALS:
The counselor will address the following components in the school
counseling program: Instruction, Counseling, Appraisal and Advisement, Consultation, Collaboration, and Referral. -. The following domains are to be considered in evaluation:
- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling and guidance program within the early college program.
- Create and maintain an effective environment for student learning.
- Use counseling models and strategies supported by research.
- Assess and plan for student learning and success.
- Student graduation rate and participation in state and local assessment.
- Grow in professional practice through continuing education/professional development.
- Facilitate classroom instruction and small group counseling.
TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT: 202 day work year. Salary will be established by the Metro East Web Academy Board of Directors
EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated by the supervising administrator in accordance with the Board’s policy.
