About the Role
Our Esports Coaches play an integral role in supporting Metro Esports' mission by coaching high school varsity and junior varsity esports teams, leading practices and matches, and engaging with esports clubs. The coach will use Metro’s proprietary curriculum while tailoring it to best meet the needs of the players and teams.
You will lead practices and programs that focus on:
- Teamwork
- Game mechanics and map sense
- Leadership and communication
- Skill development
- Careers in the gaming industry
Key Responsibilities
- Lead varsity and junior varsity practices, matches, and scrimmages in Fortnite, Overwatch, and other game titles (knowledge of additional titles is a plus).
- Utilize Metro’s proprietary curriculum while also adapting and developing personalized training to suit team needs.
- Plan and facilitate practice sessions, including live instruction, team-based drills, lessons, and scrimmages.
- Act as a positive mentor and role model, fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for high school students.
- Collaborate with Metro’s scholastic partners to organize esports club activities and competitive events.
- Support casual programming and activities as a program lead, including tournaments, community events, and workshops.
- Ensure all equipment is set up and functioning properly before sessions and matches.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Fortnite and/or Overwatch (knowledge of other titles like League of Legends, Valorant, or Smash Ultimate is a plus).
- Passion for esports and experience in gaming, with familiarity in gaming PCs and equipment.
- Comfortable and experienced working with high school students.
- Excellent communication skills—outgoing, friendly, and approachable.
- Ability to commute to Glenside, PA, and Bucks County locations (Doylestown, Warminster, Fairless Hills).
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or teaching is preferred.
- Highly dependable, punctual, and organized.
Compensation
- $25/hour for coaching hours.
- $20/hour for casual program lead hours.
