Responsibilities
Coordinate Shipping & Receiving Operations:
- Supervise and coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely processing of inbound and outbound materials.
- Manage schedules for freight pickups and deliveries, ensuring efficiency and minimal disruptions.
- Verify accuracy of shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, and inventory records.
- Provide direction and support to shipping/receiving team members, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration to achieve departmental objectives.
- Identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks in shipping and receiving operations and propose improvements.
- Implement strategies to optimize workflows, reduce errors, and improve overall productivity.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping and receiving activities.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, receipts, and inventory adjustments.
- Collaborate with the inventory team to ensure stock levels are accurate and materials are stored properly.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of the shipping and receiving areas and equipment.
- Train team members on safety standards and emergency procedures.
- Onboard and train new employees in shipping and receiving procedures.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and arrange for training or cross-training opportunities.
- Mentor and coach team members to support their professional growth.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the shipping/receiving team and management.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as production and maintenance, to resolve logistical challenges.
- Communicate effectively with external vendors, carriers, and customers as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in logistics, supply chain, or related fields is a plus.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within shipping, receiving, or logistics operations.
- Familiarity with material handling equipment and warehouse management systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities to address operational challenges.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office and logistics software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs safely.
- Work is split between an office setting and an industrial warehouse/yard environment.
- Must be prepared to assist with hands-on tasks, including operating equipment and performing physical labor as needed.
