Universal Metro Asian Services is a Not-For-Profit organization that aims to serve immigrant populations of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.
UMAS is a small, family run organization. The perceptive employee would need to have experience with that or have experience wearing multiple hats. In addition, perceptive employee should be able to work autonomously, be a self-starter, and have initiative and lots of follow through.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision of the Universal Industries Registered Nurse, provide for the routine health care of participants enrolled in the Adult Day services Center.
- Monitor the health condition of each participant and liaison with family, caregivers or physicians as indicated. Administer medications and other treatments as prescribed by the participant's physician. Provide first aid and emergency care as necessary.
- Participate in pre-service and in-service training for staff and volunteers and maintain necessary documentation related to this function.
- Participate as part of the ADC interdisciplinary team in conducting intakes and in the creation of individualized participant care plans.
- Liaison with participant's family, care givers, physicians and others involved in the care of the participant.
- Maintain up to date and complete charts on each participant and ensure that proper documentation according to state regulations and professional standards is maintained.
- Attend seminars, workshops, conferences and other professional activities to remain current in the field and fulfill continuing education requirements necessary to maintain licensing.
- Represent the Universal Industries and its adult day service center within the broader community.
- Other related duties as appropriate or assigned.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Education/Certification: Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse with a current license to practice nursing in the state of Illinois.
- Experience: Pervious experience working with older adults or in an adult day care environment preferred.
- Ability to communicate with staff, participants and the community in writing and orally.
- Have empathy and understanding of the effects of physical and mental impairment on both older adults and those who care for them.
- Documentation of a physical examination no more than six months prior to employment, which provides evidence that they are free of communicable disease.
- CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to become certified.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, including oral, written and presentation
- Self-motivated, creative, flexible and results driven
- Ability to be a productive team member/player
Additional qualifications include:
- Being fluent in Hindi/Urdu or Guajarati preferred
