Requirements:
Currently holds HUD Housing Counseling Certification or onsite training to obtain within 6 months of employment
Two-year degree in Business, Public Administration or closely related field
Experience in Banking Mortgage and Grants Management field highly preferred;
Ability to communicate in English in both oral and written forms; understand and follow both oral and written directions; other languages helpful
Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software applications required.
Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills
Ability to maintains strict confidentiality of information while in the course of work responsibilities;
Respects the client’s / resident’s privacy and property;
Exercises tact, tolerance and discretion when working with residents, clients, the public and staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional housing counseling services in all areas of:
· Pre-purchase
· Rental
· Budget and credit
· Home improvement and rehabilitation
· Mortgage delinquency and default resolution
· Services for the homeless
Offer regular group workshops in support of area programs and counseling services
Maintain waiting list for home buyer and home repair programs for area municipalities
Meet with candidates and obtain income information to qualify individuals for programs
Provide reports to local, state and federal agencies as required
Effectively administer state grants, seek and apply for grants from area businesses
Meet with area partners to discuss and solve area housing challenges
Participate in community events providing information on counseling / program services
Has a working knowledge of financial capability, credit, budget and individual asset building
Must be able to effectively analyze credit reports and be proficient as a financial coach
Assist clients with meeting financial goals
Able to professionally offer non-biased constructive suggestions / ideas
Job Type: Full-time
