What are the responsibilities and job description for the Multi-Modal Freight Operator position at Metro Logistics USA, Inc.?

Purpose

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Freight Forwarder to join our team. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return will receive a competitive salary, depending on experience plus benefits including pension and healthcare. Key Duties

Prepare Shipping quotes, taking bookings and dealing with general customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner, in line with our company SLA's
Source, plan and monitor consignments, assessing any risk to targeted deadlines, and providing alternative transport solutions as a contingency option
Liaise with Service Providers and other 3rd party logistics suppliers in order to negotiate best possible rates and service
Obtain, check and prepare documentation to meet customs and packing specifications, and compliance with other countries' regulations and fiscal regimes
Maintain communication and control through all phases of the journey, escalating to Seniors where appropriate
Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and new customers
Undertake any other duties as may be required by Management commensurate with the responsibilities of the job or the requirements of the business

Essential - Good working knowledge of the freight forwarding industry.

Desirable - Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role

Overview of specific duties (not exhaustive & on-going training provided) :

Mainly co-ordination rather than traditional clerk paperwork duties

Hawbs, Manifest, Mawb ( Industry related documentation )

Other HMC and Int'l Trade related documentation

Taking shipment bookings

Arranging collections and transport

Quotes / Price Indications

Booking with carriers

Post-flights

Answering / tackling queries and problem solving

Monitoring shipments door to door - updates to customer at key milestones

Proactive shipment tracking......i.e. ring the driver etc

Invoicing

Accruing of costs

Job costing

General administration

Flexibility, positive attitude, eager, customer service focused

Efficient, keen, industrious, care about the job

Can be stressful environment but fast moving and exciting

Must be able to work with other staff and be able to communicate with others
