Description
The Times, a privately owned newspaper in Gainesville, Ga., is seeking a reporter to cover our community with a focus on local government. We have the largest newsroom staff in Northeast Georgia, a testament to our continued dedication to providing quality, unbiased local news. We’re looking for someone who can join us in that mission.
The ideal candidates will:
- Have experience producing quality journalism, including strong reporting and writing skills
- Be naturally curious and interested in our community and what its residents want and need from their newspaper;
- Work well with others, be persistent and able to find creative solutions;
- Enjoy collaborative work and a persistent push to be better;
- Be flexible, able to help others when needed, including with breaking news
Photography, video, podcasting, and fluency in Spanish would be useful skills.
The position is mostly daytime weekday hours, but evening, weekend and holiday work is sometimes required. The position will be based at our downtown Gainesville office. Though some work can be done remotely, reporters are required to spend some time each week in the local community and in our office.
