Job Summary:

Pay: $20.00/hour

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

The Ambulance Driver position provides safe, efficient and courteous transportation services to medically necessary stretcher patients on a scheduled basis. Ambulance Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving history.

All Ambulance Drivers will be provided a CEVO5 Certification (Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation) and will need to pass a written and driving exam. Additionally, a first aid and CPR certification is preferred, but will be provided upon being hired. Lastly, all Ambulance Drivers will need to pass a DOT physical examination (Dept of Transportation).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to safely operate all functions of the ambulance.
  • Ability to safely and courteously drive patients from pick-up location to destination on a scheduled basis.
  • Prepare manual and electronic trip reports, obtain necessary signatures and return completed forms, if necessary.
  • Complete daily safety checks of vehicles to ensure the ambulance is in good working order prior to going in-service.
  • Duty to document required vehicle maintenance and communicate operational issues to the Fleet Manager.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned vehicle both prior to and at the end of shift including washing interior and exterior of the assigned vehicle
  • Ability to remain on-time and on-schedule for all scheduled transports.
  • Communicates with Dispatch regarding locations during transports.
  • Arrives in uniform with a neat and clean appearance.
  • Ability to timely and fully complete required documentation.
  • Assists EMT in loading and unloading patients in and out of the ambulance and any other assistance the EMT may need.

This position has access to confidential patient protected health information.
Before placing a person in this position, a background check is required. Candidates are required to undergo drug screening as part of the hiring process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required:

  • Knowledge of local driving routes and location of medical facilities
  • Good driving skills
  • Ability to positively and courteously interact with patients, facilities and Metro One personnel
  • Ability to be on-time for all shifts
  • Basic automotive knowledge (check fluids, windshield wipers, etc)
  • Ability to manage a schedule with multiple daily transports completing assigned tasks on-time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age for insurance purposes
  • 3-5 years Driving Experience, preferred
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (will be provided if not certified)
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills (English)
