Job Summary: This position’s key responsibilities are to install the company’s products and equipment, test existing equipment to ensure proper functioning, troubleshoot equipment problems, and perform routine maintenance and repairs. Work will be performed at company office/warehouses and on-site at customer locations. Typical working hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, with occasional emergencies after-hours that must be responded to. Applicants must undergo a criminal background and driving record check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop in-depth knowledge about the products offered at Metro Pure Water.
• Install new equipment and systems at customer sites, ensuring proper configuration and functionality according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Diagnose issues with equipment by analyzing symptoms, utilizing technical manuals, and performing necessary tests to identify faulty components.
• Conduct routine inspections and servicing of equipment to prevent breakdowns, including cleaning, lubrication, and calibration checks.
• Calibrate equipment, collect water samples, test water quality, adjust chemical levels, maintain careful records, and create detailed reports.
• Interact directly with clients to understand their needs, explain technical issues, and provide updates on service progress.
• Order and manage necessary replacement parts for repairs, ensuring inventory accuracy.
• Complete detailed service reports, including findings, repairs performed, parts used, and customer feedback.
• Adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards while performing service tasks.
• Keep company service vans clean, organized, and ready for use.
• Answer questions about company products.
• Travel to client sites throughout the KC Metro area, using company vehicles.
• Use lifts, 2-wheelers, pallet jacks or other assistive machinery to move company equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality of the company’s intellectual property and trade secrets.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
• Previous service technician experience preferred.
• Prior experience in water purification systems or plumbing a plus.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be willing to undergo a criminal background and driving record check.
Qualifications:
• Mechanical aptitude, good with using tools.
• Dexterity and ability to use various tools and equipment necessary for installing, servicing and repairs.
• Ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with customers.
• Proficient understanding of the equipment being installed & serviced, including electrical, mechanical, and electronic principles.
• Familiarity with technology including computer programs and phone apps.
• Ability to explain technical terms in common terms.
• An eye for detail and high level of organization are a must.
• Ability to work independently with little oversight at customer locations.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized work environment.
• Maintain acceptable driving and criminal record.
• Reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee will be in a warehouse facility while performing some of the duties of this job and will be required to sit, stand, walk, reach, pull, squat, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds dolly or lift equipment is used. Employee may be trained on and use scissor lifts or boom lifts. Higher amounts of poundage to be moved typically requires a team lift or use of equipment. Employee will be required on occasion to stand or be on their feet for extended periods of time. In addition, employee will be required to drive to current or potential customer locations to conduct company business and will be exposed to various office or job site environments.
