Position Summary

Responsible for working with the Multi-Plant Manager on all aspects of the ready mix plant site including safety, environment, operations, customer service, maintenance, inventory management, performance, quality, financial performance, employee relations, human resources plant’s image and community relations. Maintains equipment and material to produce concrete and ensures delivery of requested products to customers. Additionally, this position is accountable for the safety of all plant personnel, mechanics, drivers and others. Reports to General Manager with required reports and briefings. Coordinates with dispatch and may be required schedule and self dispatch to ensure timely distribution of concrete while maintaining customer satisfaction. May be assigned additional requirements or special projects in order to support company operations.

Specific Duties:

• Conducts/oversees monthly and quarterly staff meetings, maintaining a consistent focus on safe behavior.
• Enforces the wearing of appropriate safety equipment in the plant at all times.
• Coordinates monthly plant and truck inspections with the safety coordinator/general manager.
  
• Directly supervises drivers, plant operator and yard attendant if any. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training/coaching employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Accountable for the integrity of Mixer Operators and yard personnel loads and payroll hours.
• Monitors loading and tempering time; working with the Mixer Operators to arrive on each jobsite in a timely fashion.
• Reviews, daily, a pre-shift inspection checklist to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
• Periodic inspections are performed to inspect both equipment and maintenance. 
  
• Responsible for overall housekeeping including the plant, batch office, and driver and equipment appearance.
• Self-starter with desire to promote business principles.
• Exercise independent decision-making, prioritize conflicting demands, and communicate with multiple associates and employees.
• Ability to formulate decisions in support of company policies and programs, make and support recommendations, prioritize work, communicate with multiple parties and handle multiple tasks.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (up to 8 hrs.), stand, stoop and bend.
• Ability to work extended hours and irregular schedules.
• Ability to lift 50lbs from ground to waist is required.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED, 2 year Degree Preferred 5 years experience with concrete and related products.
• Must be able to read and write in the English language.
• Bilingual is desired but not required.
• 3 year maintenance and supervisory experience preferred.
• 2 years experience of driving a concrete truck.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Possess a current driver’s license (preferably a C.D.L.)
• Current knowledge of D.O.T., O.S.H.A., EPA, and other agencies regulations.
• Ability to direct, teach, motivate, coach and discipline.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate positive working relationships with all levels of management and staff.
• Able to work in all weather conditions and during hours of limited visibility and dust.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (up to 8 hrs.), stand, stoop and bend
• Must have manual dexterity to use hand tools, and be able to see and hear.

Ability to lift 50lbs. from ground to waist is required
