Security Officer

Job Overview:

Metro Security is seeking a dedicated and professional Security Guard to join our team at a vibrant LGBTQ bar that serves as a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to maintaining the safety and well-being of our patrons and staff while fostering an environment of respect and support. This role requires excellent communication skills, a calm demeanor, and the ability to handle diverse situations with sensitivity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patron Safety: Ensure the safety and security of all patrons, staff, and the premises by monitoring the bar and its surrounding areas.
• Access Control: Manage entry points by checking IDs, ensuring that only those of legal age and those who meet the bar’s entry policies are admitted.
• Conflict Resolution: Monitor patron behavior and de-escalate conflicts or disturbances in a calm and non-confrontational manner, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and respectfully.
• Incident Response: Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, altercations, or any safety concerns, and coordinate with management and law enforcement if necessary. Document all incidents according to company policy.
• Regular Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of the interior including restrooms and patio area, to deter unwanted behavior and ensure a safe environment.
• LGBTQ Awareness: Be mindful of the specific needs and concerns of the LGBTQ community, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding in all interactions.
• Customer Service: Assist patrons with inquiries, provide directions, and offer support in a friendly and approachable manner.
• Policy Enforcement: Enforce all bar policies, including behavior expectations, and alcohol service regulations, consistently and fairly.
• Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with other security personnel, bar staff, and management throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Prior experience in security, particularly in a nightlife or bar setting, is preferred. Experience working in LGBTQ venues or with LGBTQ communities is a plus.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to handle situations with tact, discretion, and empathy.
• Physical Fitness: Must be able to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the venue, and respond quickly in emergencies.
• Conflict Management: Strong conflict resolution skills with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
• Cultural Competence: An understanding of LGBTQ issues and a commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for all patrons.
• Availability: Flexibility to work weekends, and holidays as required.

Additional Information:

• Uniform: Security personnel are required to wear a provided uniform or dress in a manner consistent with the bar’s image and brand while maintaining a professional appearance.
• Training: Mandatory training will be provided on specific safety protocols, conflict de-escalation, and LGBTQ cultural competence.
• Compensation: Competitive hourly wage, with opportunities for overtime.

HOURS ARE BETWEEN 9:00PM-2:30AM

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 4 hour shift
• Evening shift
• Holidays
• Night shift
• Weekends as needed
• Weekends only
