What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transport Driver position at Metro Transport Gastonia?
Join Metro Transport as a NEMT Driver!
Are you someone who values safety, helping others, and enjoys being on the road? As a Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) driver with Metro Transport, your main focus is assisting passengers and ensuring a smooth, safe ride to their destinations.
What You’ll Do:
- Safe Driving: Your top priority is getting passengers where they need to go, safely and comfortably. Following traffic laws and defensive driving are key.
- Passenger Assistance: Some passengers may need a extra help, whether it’s getting in and out of the vehicle, securing a wheelchair, or handling personal items. A friendly attitude goes a long way.
- Vehicle Care: You’ll be responsible for checking the vehicle before each trip using a simple checklist—things like oil, tires, and lights. Don’t worry, Metro Transport maintains the vehicle so you can focus on the road.
- Stay on Schedule: Many passengers rely on you to get to important medical appointments. Punctuality matters, so being on time for pick-ups and drop-offs is an essential part of the job.
- Clear Communication: Whether it’s talking with passengers, dispatchers, or other drivers, you’ll need to be clear and calm, especially in unexpected situations.
- Record Keeping: You’ll log trip details, mileage, and fuel in a web-based app to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
- Confidentiality: You’ll be transporting passengers who may have medical conditions. Respecting their privacy and keeping information confidential is a must.
