What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic position at Metro?
Metro is seeking maintenance mechanics who are interested in a career in maintaining Mass Transit vehicles, support equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy-duty diesel repair and have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL license.

- Properly use shop tools, instruments, and gauges necessary to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair brakes, suspension systems, engine, transmission systems, etc. on passenger coaches when necessary.
- Perform all required measurements and diagnostic testing on passenger coaches when necessary.
- Make road service calls and/or bus change off.
- Work in a safe manner with all required safety protective devices in accordance with Metro safety policy and procedures.
- Make all necessary reports and keep reports, both written and data entry, in accordance with the policies, procedures and requirements of federal, state, local regulations and Metro policies.
- Report mechanical defects, accidents, hazards, personal injuries, etc. to Supervisors.
- Work from oral, written, or drawn instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass Mechanical Aptitude Test
- Two (2) years of Vocational training in heavy-duty diesel repair or mechanic work preferred OR five (5) years heavy-duty mechanic work experience with no vocational training.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a CDL Class B with passenger endorsements.
- Available to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shifts
