What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobility Manager position at Metro?
Metro’s goal is to improve the mobility of all people throughout the Greater Cincinnati Region. The Regional Mobility Manager will support this by facilitating regular communication and collaboration with transportation providers and human services agencies in the region, maintaining the mobility options directory, and providing guidance about accessible transportation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Cultivate multi-agency partnerships that can improve service, control costs and improve efficiency and effectiveness through transportation coordination.
- Attend and participate in community interest groups, advisory committees and focus groups to stay informed about mobility issues in the region.
- Function as community transportation advocate promoting accessible, reliable, affordable transportation options for people with disabilities.
- Understand the unique transportation challenges faced by persons with disabilities, older adults, Veterans, low-income individuals, and other vulnerable populations and work creatively and in collaboration with partners and Metro staff to develop and implement solutions.
- Identify unmet transportation needs through outreach activities and collaborate with partners and Metro to assist in developing plans to address unmet needs, improve coordination of services and increase accessible transportation in their community.
- Enhance the rider’s transit experience by assuring that information about transportation options is easily available in accessible format.
- Assist transportation providers with marketing and educational strategies, including targeted marketing and/or travel training.
- Provide monthly reports to partners and the Director of ADA & Accessible Services.
- Communicate with customers verbally and/or electronically to determine destination, travel dates and times, and accommodations required by answering incoming inquiries.
- Collaborate with travel training to enhance opportunities and effectiveness.
- Work closely with the Eligibility Manager to facilitate application and assessment processes for new applicants and Access customers whose eligibility has or is expiring. Serve as back up to the Eligibility Manager, including but not limited to conducting in-person assessment
- Communicate with applicants, agencies, care providers, and organizations that serve people with disabilities concerning eligibility, assessment, and appeals process, as well as provide information on how Access operates as well as other regional partners and other transportation providers.
- Assist with the facilitation of the eligibility appeals process, including correspondence, record keeping; work closely with Eligibility Manager and other staff to schedule monthly appeals hearings; serve as recorder for the appeals hearings.
- Conduct and/or participate in program orientation/presentations to community groups and organizations to promote the travel training program and Metro.
- Maintain passenger records in customer database, making all necessary changes in status, client contact information, fare/rider type or other important field entries.
- Assist in the development of strategies to meet or exceed organizational and department performance goals and objectives.

Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, and three years’ experience in travel training or related field or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience working with older adults and people with disabilities.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Computer Skills
- Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office environment and related software.
Other Requirements
- Familiarity with the mobility options in the Greater Cincinnati region, ADA requirements, mobility issues and sensitivity of people with disabilities preferred.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a specified timeline.
- Must be available to work alternate hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Training skills and comfortable leading or presenting to groups of people.
- General office equipment experience, i.e., copier, postage meter machine, etc.
