Metro is seeking a Transportation Safety Manager to promote a culture of safety to reduce/prevent accidents and injuries. Manage the Transportation Safety Program by ensuring all safety policies and procedures are enforced. Review safety policies and procedures and modify/ write new policy as necessary. Make sure new policies and procedures are communicated to all affected department managers prior to implementation. Measure, monitor and improve safe work practices. Ensure SMS is adhered to.

- Work closely with the Industrial Safety Manager and Security Manager to promote and build a safety culture through joint activities and using all forms of available communication. (electronic, in person, SIP meetings, safety committee meetings)
- Co-chair the Joint Safety Committee and develop and improve safety plans and procedures.
- Be a visible cheerleader of safety by proactively, regularly engaging with operators and employees to improve safety awareness and focus.
- Lead safety awareness campaigns keeping safety as the highest priority
- Make sure the Hazard log is maintained and up to date.
- Manage/ oversee the Safety Awards Program
- Responsible for monthly safety reports to be submitted to FTA/NTD.
- Plan annual goals and objectives.
- Manage the Driver’s License Monitoring program.
- Be an essential safety employee when emergencies occur.
- Promote employee development.
- Analyze safety data and make recommendations based on the data.
- Manage the Investigation of accidents to determine root causes and preventability.
- Manage budget.
- Manage the Accident Appeals meetings.
- Manage any information shared with other departments. (KPI’s, Bulletins, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION
- College preferred; formal training (Police Academy, TSI Certification, National Safety Council) is acceptable.
- Reconstruction Training and CMV enforcement training preferred.
- Understanding of CDL licensing
- 5 years of transportation experience in safety related field
CERTIFICATIONS
- TSSP certification from TSI required.
- DDC certified from NSC preferred.
- PTSCTP from TSI preferred.
- CDL License desired.
