The Compliance and Policy Management Associate shall operate under the general supervision of the Compliance Manager and assist in the implementation and management of ongoing activities relating to Metrocare Services (Metrocare or the Center) compliance program. The position will exercise professional judgment and decision-making skill regarding applicable federal and state healthcare laws, rules, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist in managing and responding to compliance inquiries.
- Assist in the development of auditing and monitoring assessments.
- Conduct site assessment monitoring activities related to compliance and privacy related activities.
- Assist with administrative duties for agency-wide compliance initiatives, including preparation of agenda and presentation materials for team meetings.
- Works collaboratively with department stakeholders to develop policies reflective of operational needs and incompliance with state and federal regulations, and contractual requirements.
- Reviews new or revised policies and procedures against existing policies and procedures across the organization.
- Ensures areas impacted by new/revised material have been consulted. Resolves potential conflicts between new/revised and existing policies and procedures. Identifies and initiates any necessary updates to impacted policies and procedures.
- Assists policy/procedure owners in drafting and formatting policy statements and procedures ensuring subject matter consistency.
- Supports policy/procedure owners in completing regular, required reviews and updates of policies and procedures.
- Participates in and/or leads meetings to discuss new or revised policies and procedures.
- Proactively identifies and communicates issues and risk. Makes recommendations for mitigation as needed.
- Ensures all appropriate stakeholders review proposed policies and procedures before posting in the policy management system.
- Supports education and training on new/revised policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains collaborate relationships across the institution by providing responsive customer service, follow through, and communication.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- Required: Bachelor of Science with an emphasis toward Health Administration, Public Administration, Business, Human Services, and Social Science.
- At least 2 years of applied working knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Laws, Anti-kickback statues, False Claims Act, STARK law and Civil Monetary Penalties laws.
- 2-4 years of Behavioral Health/ Healthcare experience.
- 2-4 years of Policy Development and Management experience.
- 2-4 years of Investigation and Report Writing skills and experience.
- Familiarity with healthcare laws, regulations, and standards is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic math skills required.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
- Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
