The Senior Maintenance Associate performs skilled maintenance and repair work on Center property. Involves tasks in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment on electrical, plumbing, and interior of buildings, exterior of buildings and mechanical equipment. Work assignments are performed under direct supervisor on the Maintenance Coordinator; to inspect and advise on work assignments as well as to ensure safety precautions are being observed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To assist in maintaining and repairing buildings, and performing general maintenance and repair work on the Centers Group Homes and other facilities.

  • Performs routine jobs independently or assists in more complex jobs under close supervision.

  • Performs general maintenance and repair work on electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, carpet installation and remodeling interiors of facilities.

  • Maintains and repairs electrical outlets, switches, fixtures and accessories, and performs related minor electrical work

  • Performs carpentry work in the alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings, doors, windows, wood fixtures, and furniture

  • May perform plumbing and/or electrical work to modernize a building or adapt it for new uses

  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of Group Home facilities

  • Makes inspections of equipment, machinery and building accessories and appliances, to ensure proper maintenance and repair

  • May act as on-site working leader on construction, maintenance, or repair projects

  • Will purchase parts and supplies as needed

  • Will keep and prepare work orders on each job request as assigned

  • Will be expected to document proper usage of time for each assigned work order

  • Expected to collaborate with other departments within the organization on a as needed basis to ensure full-service delivery and to mitigate any disruption of services

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and sanitation.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school/GED required

  • Minimum of two to three years experience in specialized field, which includes experience in electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting or similar areas.

  • Skilled in the use of tools and equipment

  • Knowledge of fire and safety regulations

  • Certification in specialized field a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Basic math skills required.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

  • Ability to apply proper methods and techniques to repair buildings and related equipment.

  • Ability to use independent judgment

  • Ability to work as a team leader with other General Maintenance staff.

  • Ability to work independently or in a group setting.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to utilize Internet for resources.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.

  • Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. Due to the multi-site responsibilities of this position the incumbent must be able to carry equipment and supplies (up to 15 pounds). The position requires standing and/or walking in excess of 7 hours a day.

TRAVEL:

  • In county travel may be required daily

  • No Overnight travel required
