The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor provides direct client care by assessing chemical dependency and providing related services to veterans and their families. With growth of this ground-breaking clinic, training and supervision involvement will increase.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Conducts chemical dependency assessment to clarify related treatment plan and goals
- Provide individual and group treatment for substance abuse as well as tobacco cessation
- Implement objective measurement tools to track treatment outcome.
- Maintain all necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with case managers and treatment team to provide comprehensive care.
- Contributes to reports required by the Cohen Veterans Network.
- Assist with training and research as needed.
- Provision of occasional community presentations related to the mission of the clinic
- Attends all treatment team staffings and is alert to opportunities for promoting/providing psychosocial rehabilitation or use of community resources for clients.
- Assists with on-call services in accordance with clinic procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master degree with two years experience, or Bachelor degree with four years experience in mental health or related field. LCDC licensure required.
- Experience working with a military or veteran population is preferred.
- 5 years of clinical experience is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and reliable.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic math skills required.
- Ability to work with reports and numbers.
- Ability to calculate moderately complex figures and amounts to accurately report activities and budgets.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to utilize Internet for resources.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. If licensed in another state, must obtain Texas Driver License within three (3) months of employment.
- Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Centers liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. Must have an acceptable driving record.
