This is a Mon-Fri 8-5pm role, no weekends.
- Ensure that the workplace has the necessary supplies and tools to perform daily operational activities
- Adjust, as needed, the courier pick-ups to ensure unnecessary courier trips due to low sample volume
- Provides daily lab cancellation forms for the clinical staff and Lab technologists
- Performs daily review of “Release Stored Orders” utilizing the Orchard software
- Oversees that lab specimen send outs to reference labs meet testing sites’ specific requirements
- Perform add on testing retrieval/notification
- Performs phlebotomy only on patients that have MD orders
- Processes samples so they meet SOP requirements for testing
- Performs phlebotomy in a timely manner from when the patient has been “activated” in the EMR.
- Covers other satellite offices when needed
- Maintains current knowledge of Standard Operating procedures within the Lab
- Maintains compliance with OSHA/HIPPA
- Compliant with CLIA regulations through proper specimen storage
- Ensures no harm to patient during phlebotomy procedure
- Ensures specimen collection area is clean and safe for the patients
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year experience in phlebotomy in a healthcare setting.
- Medical practice experience helpful.
- Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques.
- Knowledge of clinic protocols and policies.
- Skill in performing efficient and effective draws.
- Skill in conducting cooperative interactions with patients and staff.
- Ability to interpret and respond appropriately to instructions.
- Ability to coordinate hand-eye movements to ensure patient comfort during blood draws.
- Possesses confidence and skills to deal directly with staff.
- Customer service focused and responsive to customer’s needs, energetic, respects confidentiality, proactive and able to work independently as needed.
- Involves standing and bending over 90 percent of the day, walking or sitting the remainder, with some lifting.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and able to assist with patient transport and transfer.
