Metrolina Nephrology Associates is the region’s most recognized and experienced nephrology group. The practice has been on the forefront of the treatment and management of kidney disease for more than 40 years. Composed of 40 Nephrologists and 40 Nephrology Advanced Practitioners, our practice serves patients from eight convenient locations. Clinical care delivery to a transplant patient population of up to 1,800 patients with the potential of expansion following best practice post-transplant care guidelines. Work directly with 4 transplant nephrologists and 2 transplant advanced practitioners. This includes the following duties, but is not limited to:

  • Completes lab order entry and lab reconciliation
  • Prepare for daily clinics
  • Immunosuppressive/Therapeutic drug
  • Mindful of CMV status
  • Ability to distinguish between acute and chronic rejection
  • Recognizes new onset diabetes
  • Manages and prioritizes incoming and outgoing phone calls
  • Administers Intradermal, IM, IV,  and subcutaneous Injections
  • Demonstrates Basic Assessment Skills through completion of nurse visits 
  • Performs clinical tasks according to practice policy
  •     -suture/staple removal
  •     -wound care involving sterile technique
  •     -EKG’s
  • Utilizes patient assistance options
  • Performs precise venous and capillary phlebotomy
  • Works prescription refills according to practice policy
  • Utilizes workflows that maximize visit compliance
  • Utilizes established workflows which maximize overall office efficiency
  • Schedules appointments
  • Updates EMR with transplant date and CMV status
  • Processes tasks
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Immunization, Lab Order, Charge and Problem entry as well as their associated workflows
  • Reviews encounter forms for orders
  • Completes forms
  • Schedules outside procedures
  • Arranges Hospital Admissions
  • Obtains prior authorizations
  • Follows operating instructions and notifies appropriate personnel of any malfunctions.
  • Completes required CEU’s


Requirements

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional nursing experience.  Transplant experience ideal. Hospital and/or Internal Medicine experience preferred.
  • Hours for this position are Mon-Fri 8-5pm
  • This role is not eligible for consistent remote/hybrid work for the first 12 months of employment.  
  • Remote/hybrid work may be allowed in instances of inclement weather.
  • Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position.  The ability to consistently adhere to scheduled work hours and fulfill job responsibilities in a timely manner is critical to the success of the role and the overall operations of the team.
  • Knowledge of nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and community resources. 
  • Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nursing guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, EMR’s, Outlook. 
  • Competent in Learning Management Systems
  • Must hold a current and valid North Carolina LPN/RN License. 
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Possesses confidence and skills to deal directly with and influence the staff. 
  • Customer service focused and responsive to customer’s needs, energetic, respects confidentiality, proactive and able to work independently.
