What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Engineer position at Metronet?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Act as the primary technical resource to various sales teams across the commercial sales organization.
- Manage the technology evaluation stage during the pre-sales process and works with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate.
- Responsible for solution design, pricing, presentation, and product demonstrations.
- Analyze, design and price complex services and network solutions that meet the customer’s specific objectives.
- Conducts individual or group product/process training with the sales teams.
- Prepares fiber optics cost estimates by consulting with Fiber Design Engineering, Field Operations, and other professional and technical personnel.
- Assist the sales channels with technical elements of RFI’s and RFPs, as necessary.
- Create detailed Statement of Work (SOW) documents for customer contracts.
- Act as an advisor and/or makes recommendations to sales or project team members.
- Understand industry applications and competitive products.
- Document and update internal requests in the appropriate systems.
- Stays current with technology as it pertains to fiber optics infrastructure and telecommunications products.
- Travel to meet with customers within the assigned Sales Territory as required.
- All other duties as assigned
- Minimum 3 years selling telecom products: VoIP, SIP, PRI, Internet, Managed Wi-Fi design, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, SD WAN, Hosted PBX, Other.
- Minimum 3 years of Sales engineering experience required.
- Minimum 3years of Sales Consulting experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience designing and selling fiber optic technology solutions.
- Training experience in a variety of forums (classroom led, virtual, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in telecommunications/IT Field required.
- Visio, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Wi-Fi Design software experience.
- Industry certifications MEF/CECP, CCDA/CCNA are highly preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel across state lines as required
