To assist in all facets of programming from development to delivery and assisting in the general administration of programs and events.
The schedule for this position is intermittent. Employee may occasionally supervise other assigned personnel, such as seasonal and/or intermittent workers, volunteers or program participants. Availability for evening and weekend work as scheduled in advance. Ability to work in all outside weather conditions; wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold (below 32 F degrees) and extreme heat (above 90 F degrees). Ability to work around various outdoor contaminants, such as airborne and plant allergens. Some work assignments and tasks will require exposure to and work in inclement weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to move about consistently across various terrain or sit consistently during a shift. Employee may be required to occasionally operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This position frequently communicates with guests and must be able to exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally move up to 25 pounds. - Provides quality education programs, recreational or conservation experiences for park customers and/or volunteers.
- Assists with programs, events and volunteers as assigned. Spends approximately 80% of time delivering programs or assisting with events, and 20% preparing for programming and events.
- Teaches program curriculum and concepts, shares park information and interacts with volunteers and the public.Assists with care of both native and farm program animals.
- Maintains accurate records of tasks performed: including but not limited to time sheets, vehicle mileage, programming information, etc.
- Uses proper personal protective equipment, follows safety protocols, and uses tools and equipment appropriately to ensure the safety of themselves and others. Immediately reports safety concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- A high school diploma or equivalent training supplemented with two (2) years college level courses in education, science or environmental studies, cultural history. Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent training supplemented with at least four (4) years of experience working with youth or family program delivery.
- A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record allowing insurability by the park district’s current vehicle insurance carrier under existing coverage provisions at the time of employment and thereafter. Candidates may not have more than 4 total points (or equivalent penalty) issued by a recognized licensing authority for driving-related violations on their driving record at the time of employment.
- No history of felony convictions.
