The Specialist position is responsible for onboarding and facilitating new MCC students as they enter the Adult Education program. The Specialist maintains student records and works closely with the supervisor to ensure continuity in student services.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides day-to-day basic education and transition support by assisting clients/students visiting the Adult Education facilities.
2. Prepares for Information Sessions, data entry, completing enrollment and understanding all steps in the intake process.
3. Assists with onboarding new students and student retention.
4. Creates accounts for students across multiple platforms.
5. Works with MCC staff to support all students (TLC, minors, and returning students).
6. Maintains office functions, database management, and web-based resources.
7. Orders and maintains sufficient supplies for onboarding new students.
8. Consistently and dependably attend work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of adult or developmental education practices.
2. Knowledge of student support services.
3. Knowledge of MS Office and other college supported software applications.
4. Knowledge of general office and/or receptionist duties.
5. Excellent skills in customer service and communication.
6. Skilled in human relations and diplomacy.
7. Problem solving skills.
8. Ability to pay close attention to detail and write and maintain accurate records.
9. Ability to provide leadership to a work group and to demonstrate cooperative and professional attitude.
10. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.
11. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.
12. Ability to work some evening and/or weekend hours.

High School diploma with two (2) years of experience in an educational and/or customer service setting.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.

Associate Degree preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
Physical Demands

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
