What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Mechanic- Various Campuses (POOL) position at Metropolitan Community College?
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); with up to 4 years of specialized or technical training in building trades including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry
- Six (6) years facility maintenance related experience
- Valid Driver's License required
- Knowledge of building maintenance principles
- Ability to perform basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry duties
- Knowledge of basic HVAC mechanics
- Ability to safely perform building maintenance duties
Normally scheduled Monday through Friday; however, may be required to work other shifts to include evenings and/or weekends. Schedule subject to change based upon department needs.

Incumbents perform semi-skilled and skilled labor in plumbing, painting, electrical, roofing, carpentry, masonry, or HVAC, remodeling facilities, assist with maintenance or construction projects as directed.

- Maintains, repairs, and/or replaces interior building components such as ceiling systems, HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fixtures, paint, and finishes.
- Maintains, repairs, and or replaces exterior building components such as parking lots, concrete, lighting, and doors
- Conducts preventative maintenance on and repairs electrical, mechanical, plumbing, boiler operations and controls, and climate and other control systems and devices; addresses and troubleshoots issues as and when needed
- Performs snow removal duties as needed to include, but not limited to, plow truck, salt spreaders, sidewalk work, as well as manual snow removal
- Maintains inventory, and prepares and/or maintains work orders, records, and other documentation
- Performs after-hours standby requirements as scheduled or requested by supervisor, site manager, or campus superintendent.
