Met Council is America's largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. We fight poverty through comprehensive social services and by treating each client with compassion, integrity, and respect. Our programs are staffed by experts who help over 325,000 clients each year and advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our services include 100% affordable housing at 21 locations, family violence services, Holocaust survivor assistance, geriatric social work, crisis intervention and the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, affordable housing sites, and affiliated JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York City.
Position Summary :
In 2021, Met Council opened the Boro Park Chesed Center, a welcoming environment for delivering a wide array of social services, emergency food assistance, and workforce development programs in one centralized location convenient to the Jewish communities in Brooklyn with high demand for these services. In late 2024, we will move from this pilot location to the Brooklyn Hub, also in Boro Park, which will significantly increase our physical capacity to scale services.
The Administrative Assistant will support the logistical and programmatic needs of transitioning from the Chesed Center to The Hub. This includes assisting with Career Access programming at both locations and eventually supporting operations at the Brooklyn Hub. The work will be accomplished in collaboration with the Managing Director of the Brooklyn Hub and the Director of the Career Access Program, in addition to current program staff & participants, Brooklyn community members, and funders.
Principal Responsibilities :
- Coordinate preparation of funding applications, proposals, and reports as assigned. Track deadlines as appropriate.
- Work internally with Met Council staff on data collection and evaluation in order to meet funder deadlines and objectives.
- Prepare internal documentation for job postings, Human Resources paperwork, onboarding materials, etc. as the Chesed Center team expands in preparation for The Hub's opening.
- Organize and coordinate functions and events.
- Support the production of external written materials, such as press releases, reports, and flyers, including proofreading & light editing.
- Perform office management tasks, such as ordering supplies as assigned.
- Participate in internal and external meetings as assigned.
- Maintain accurate documentation and notes where appropriate.
- Track and report on progress of tasks to supervisor as needed.
- Additional responsibilities as required.

Compensation : $21 to $28 per hour.
