The position as the Ready, Set, Go! Early Literacy Associate II is a limited duration position and will begin in November of 2024 and will end on or before June 30, 2025. This position will offer benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

General Function:
Under the supervision of the RSG! Manager for the Ready, Set, Go! Program, the Early Literacy Associate II is responsible for building an early literacy resource library, systems, and support for the RSG! Program. The RSG! Early Literacy Associate II will collaborate with the RSG! Managers, Program Coordinators, and RSG! staff in providing early literacy kits and resources to RSG! families across Multnomah County and North Clackamas. They will work with RSG! Coordinators in identifying families that are no longer engaging in RSG! activities and provide intervention strategies to support retention and reduce barriers families might be facing. In addition, the Early Literacy Associate II will attend community events promoting early literacy and support access to early literacy games and materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support in updating and creating new resources around early literacy to share with the wider RSG! staff and families
- Share the benefits of early literacy activities through information sharing, kits, workshops, and community event tabling
- Research, buy, and assemble early literacy kits that are age and child developmentally appropriate for all RSG! students across all sites
- Support in engaging families that no longer participate in RSG! activities
- Support RSG! retention numbers by engaging families through phone calls and other forms of communication
- Support in surveying what barriers families are facing with engaging in RSG! activities and with the support of the RSG! Manager address those challenges
- In a case-by-case situation, support families by delivering kits to their place of living to continue supporting learning at home. All through individualized early literacy kits and/or pre-assembled kits
- Support program outcomes by keeping an eye on spending, budget, and offering family engagement opportunities
- Organize and maintain program file and documentation as required
- Attend and participate in workshops around early literacy and child development
- Attend once a month professional development days set ahead of time by the RSG! Managers
- Attend regularly occurring supervision meetings with RSG! Manager, RSG! Staff, and Agency
- Maintain up-to-date data entry into the agency database, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO)
- Support monthly reporting required by early literacy grant
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Training and a minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood education, social services, parent education, school based, and/or social service program development
- Ability to read, write and speak fluently in language(s) in addition to English is required (language preferred is Spanish)
- Ability to provide strength-based resource and referral services to families
- Experience working in a public school setting and/or with the early learning community
- Experience working in collaboration with a variety of agencies and programs
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate in a team-dependent environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups
- Ability to maintain appropriate and professional relationships with clients and volunteers

Education and Experience Requirements
- Certification, Associates, or higher education degree in Early Childhood Education or minimum of 2 years of classroom experience in Early Childhood Education or school based learning (ages preferred 0-3; 3-5) – early literacy experience is a plus
- Ability to read, write and speak fluently in language(s) in addition to English is required (language preferred is Spanish)
Other Requirements:
Personal transportation allowing for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area in a timely manner. If driving a personal vehicle, must maintain a valid driver license for the state of residency, personal auto liability insurance coverage and a driving record permitting coverage under the agency auto liability policy.

Work Environment:
Work is performed both from our MFS Civic office and remotely from home, at community events, and/or at other locations as deemed necessary. Schedule to be set with supervisor. May require occasional early morning, weekend or evening work. Position requires the ability to sit for extended periods as well as stand occasionally. Position requires use of computer, telephone, use of a credit card, copier and may require accessing locations by use of stairs.
