The Metro Public Health Department (MPHD) is seeking Program Manager to support a grant funded program to implement a strong and responsive public health system that is focused on development of knowledge, skills, and the establishment of capacities that bolster the capabilities that directly impact community health. 

This grant is housed in the Bureau of People and Culture but has cross divisional programs and projects. This position is primarily responsible for tracking and reporting on the effectiveness of CDC funded PHI grant projects, initiatives, and infrastructure investments. The Program Manager will develop various reports to provide quantifiable evaluation of key outputs and outcomes. The role also provides oversight of PHIG funded activities that impact policy development and quality improvement. The position works closely with the Finance Officer to oversee grant related spending and activities across bureaus, divisions, and programs. The Program Manager assists in providing input for evaluation of the effectiveness of grant efforts. 

  • Acts a strategic partner with the Bureau Director and Grant Project Director in the design and implementation of related program measures and goals. 

  • Acts a strategic partner with the Bureau Director and Grant Project Director in the creation, implementation, and management of evaluation measures in collaboration with all partners.

  • Provides input and technical assistance to cross-divisional partners on the execution of project tasks outlined by the grant; including but not limited to, creation and management of timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and grant objectives. 

  • Researches evaluates and supports  implementation initiatives and best practices from other PHIG recipients. 

  • Measures and tracks progress to evaluate grant performance and provide feedback to all stakeholders. 

  • Participates in grant team meetings and grant cross-divisional quarterly meetings.

  • Supports management of grant external contract processes.

  • Identifies opportunities to disseminate grant work and collaborate with other national grantees.

  • Provides ongoing status updates and progress on all projects and initiatives to the Grant Director and Bureau Director.

  • Participates in continuous quality improvement efforts.

Graduation from a  (4) four-year college or university .
Three (3) years of responsible, full-time employment in public health administration, public health sanitation, public health nursing, public health education, business administration or other appropriate field.
 
OR

Graduation from an accredited Master's degree program in  public health or administrative field.
  • Graduate-level degree in public health, health administration, education, policy, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of disparities in health status and systemic, structural, and environmental inequities. Practical experience in  Public Health, Health Equity and the social determinants of health frameworks.

  • Work experience gathering and using cross-sectional data and metrics; strong understanding of the purpose of the Public Health Infrastructure grant.

  • Experience implementing strategic initiatives, including tasks such as analysis of complex issues, change management, developing quality improvement strategies and ensuring alignment of a work plan to the work product.
  • Knowledge of managerial and administrative principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate programs and to measure their effectiveness.
  • Ability to implement program changes in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze activities.
  • Ability to write letters and/or statistical/analytical reports.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and write detailed reports.
