What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metro Action Commission Maintenance Supervisor position at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County?
This is a Full-Time, Non-Civil Service position at MAC with benefits. The Maintenance Supervisor plans, supervises, and participates in overall operation and/or maintenance, cleaning and upkeep, repair, and alteration of Metro Action Commission facilities. Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
- Schedule maintenance repairs for all center sites.
- Evaluate employee performance and productivity.
- Evaluate/write work requests to determine manpower, equipment, and supplies needed.
- Conduct daily center inspections (inside/outside) to provide daily interaction with maintenance personnel.
- Train employees with emphasis on working procedures, operations, and use of new equipment, materials, safety, and institute policies.
- Maintain supply and equipment inventory and ensure their security and condition.
- Evaluate new products, technology, equipment, supplies, and services for improvement/ advancements in area functions.
- Distribute supplies and equipment to designated sites.
- Serve in a backup capacity to the Facilities Manager in the event of absence from work.
- Assist the Facilities Manager in developing statistical reports and in implementing departmental policies and procedures.
- Oversee and may participate in highly skilled work in all areas of maintenance and/or operations including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical circuitry.
- Ensure work is completed on schedule, keep accurate records of inspections, prepare detailed reports, and ensure standards are being met.
- Serve as liaison between maintenance contractors and Facilities Manager.
- Assume any additional duties and/or responsibilities deemed necessary to ensure efficient administration of agency programs.

- Willing to work after hours and on-call for emergency situations.
- Experienced in assessing situations accurately.
- Experienced in training and evaluating employees.
- Experienced in determining the needs of specific groups or programs.
- Willing to lift up to 75 pounds.
- General knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of building safety codes and requirements.
- Working knowledge of machines/equipment, supplies, MSDS and procedures.
