The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, and executing community engagement events on behavioral health topics. This full-time role is crucial to fostering connections between the Behavioral Health and Wellness Division and the community, raising public awareness, and ensuring successful educational initiatives. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure events are well-coordinated, impactful, and aligned with the department’s mission.
Events will focus on key behavioral health issues, including but not limited to mental health, suicide prevention, community safety, violence prevention, opioid overdose prevention, and building community resilience.

- Develop and implement comprehensive event plans for community engagement on behavioral health topics, ensuring all logistical details are effectively managed from inception to execution.
- Oversee the logistics of events, including venue selection, catering, technology setup, and transportation. Ensure all aspects are in place to facilitate a seamless event experience.
- Convene and facilitate planning committees comprised of relevant staff and community members to ensure collaboration and inclusion in the event planning process.
- Assist in the design and creation of engaging and educational promotional materials such as flyers, social media posts, and announcements to generate interest and maximize community attendance and engagement at events.
- Manage and assist in preparing event budgets, ensuring the cost-effective use of resources. Ensure adherence to metro finance policies and protocols, including monitoring expenditures and maintaining accurate financial records related to events.
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate participant feedback to assess the effectiveness and impact of events. Utilize insights to improve future event planning and execution.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community leaders and organizations to foster collaboration and ensure strong participation in events.
- Maintain documentation of workplans, invoices, meetings, and events held in the community. Submit relevant reports in their designated timeframe and weekly workplans to the Division Director and direct supervisor.
- Work closely with other initiatives within the Behavioral Health and Wellness Division and the Metro Public Health Department to ensure alignment and shared goals.
- Performs additional responsibilities as required to support the overall goals and objectives of the department and organization.
Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Employees would typically have a bachelor’s degree.

Full-time employment in community engagement, event planning, program administration, or a related field
Three (3) years of experience in the practical application of public health, behavioral health, and community collaboration principles.
- Experience in program development, implementation, and management.
- Demonstrated ability to engage diverse community stakeholders and facilitate progress to complete tasks and achieve goals.
Work Environment
This position will be based within the Behavioral Health and Wellness Division of the Metro Public Health Department. The role will involve occasional evening and weekend work to coordinate and attend events. Some travel within the metro area may be required to visit venues and meet with community leaders.
Salary : $54,708
