Position Description
The Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) will be at the heart of our Behavioral Health and Wellness Division, passionately tackling substance use disorders (SUDs) within our community. In this pivotal role, you'll provide hands-on services, conduct comprehensive assessments, and offer empathetic counseling. You'll also team up with public health initiatives to implement cutting-edge prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies. Working side by side with other dedicated public health professionals, you'll champion holistic care and elevate the quality of life for individuals and families impacted by substance use. Typical Duties
Clinical Services
- Conducts comprehensive substance use assessments and screenings.
Develops individualized treatment plans based on client needs.
Provides individual and group counseling for substance use and coinciding disorders.
Utilizes evidence-based approaches, including Motivational Interviewing in counseling sessions.
Facilitates connections to Medication-Assisted Treatment programs and other recovery resources.
Monitors client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Case Management and Coordination
Serves as a liaison between the public health department and other stakeholders in the community.
Assists clients in navigating systems of care, including access to detoxification, residential treatment, outpatient services, and recovery housing.
Participates in opioid systems of care initiatives and contribute to strategic planning.
Education and Prevention
Provides training and support to community stakeholders on substance use trends, stigma reduction, and recovery-oriented systems of care.
Distributes materials and educates on the use of harm reduction tools such as naloxone.
Administrative Duties
Compiles and reports program outcomes and metrics, including client engagement, retention, and treatment success rates.
Participates in team meetings, training, and supervision sessions as required.
Contributes to grant applications and reports as necessary.
Other duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited (4) four-year college or university and one (1) year of responsible, full-time employment in public administration, business administration, public health administration, public health sanitation, public health nursing, public health education, or other appropriate field
One (1) year of graduate study in public health administration, public administration, or health education may be substituted for one (1) year of experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of public health administration, public administration, public health sanitation, or business administration, of which at least one (1) year within the past three (3) years must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred :
Experience in public health, community-based programming, or systems of care.
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) in the state of Tennessee or eligibility to transfer licensure.
Strong knowledge of evidence-based practices for substance use treatment and harm reduction.
Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in case management software and electronic health records.
Cultural competency and ability to work with diverse populations.
Working Conditions
Occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary for community events or client needs.
Ability to travel within Davidson County.
