What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Specialist 1- System Services position at Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County?
Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to ensure high quality drinking water, the best in storm water management and wastewater treatment, soil and water conservation, waste and recycling for the residents of Nashville-Davidson County and some surrounding areas. It takes electricians, chemists, engineers, mechanics, information technology workers, customer service representatives, utility equipment operators and more working together to meet our resident’s needs.
**On-call will be required for this position.**
- Represent the Division as a liaison between the community, intergovernmental agencies, utilities, and the MWS Communication Manager to ensure the progress of the project by communicating any concerns.
- Track and follow-up on all complaints and send weekly complaint summaries, and any other pertinent material to the Manager for review.
- Perform project area surveys to identify businesses, schools, health care institutions, etc. affected by work to anticipate concerns.
- Assess transportation concerns (detours, lane closures, bus stops, street signs, etc.); Communicate community concerns to the appropriate department or individual within the organization.
- Convey information from the field to the MWS Comms team and SSD Management Team for press releases, social media posts and media inquiries.
- Analyze GIS and Digital Mapping to determine service area boundaries as it relates to construction work impacts.
- May attend meetings and events to represent the organization and connect with community members.
- May report water leaks, create work orders, setup water shutdowns, works with TDOT and Metro Public Works on road cuts.
High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by job related technical education as described in the position announcement and eight (8) years of experience using Hansen and/or ServiceLink.
