Position Description
The Application Tech 1, located in the Billing and Collection section of the Customer Care Center, provides customers with an accurate monthly bill. This position performs the specialized and responsible technical work in the daily activities of processing, reviewing, reporting, and communicating for water, wastewater, and stormwater bills.
Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to ensure high quality drinking water, the best in storm water management and wastewater treatment, soil and water conservation, waste and recycling for the residents of Nashville-Davidson County and some surrounding areas. It takes electricians, chemists, engineers, mechanics, information technology workers, customer service representatives, utility equipment operators and more working together to meet our resident’s needs.
Typical Duties
- Reviews daily exception reports and appropriately determine the proper action providing an accurate bill for the customer.
- Utilizes the Customer Information System to prepare read orders, investigations, and other related work orders.
- Processes work orders and updates customer accounts.
- Completes, verifies, and processes a variety of forms and documents relating to Billing.
- Researches and verifies records with NES and other MWS divisions/sections.
- Performs adjustments on MWS customer accounts.
- Determines account balances and arranges for payments or adjustments.
- Communicates with customers knowledgeably and professionally.
- Discusses metering and rate structures.
- Uses web-based bill archival system.
Minimum Qualifications
- No Substitutions.

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
