Position Description
The Metro Public Health Department of Nashville and Davidson County (MPHD) is seeking an experienced Finance Manager for a part time position.
This position will work onsite 20 hours per week.
Typical Duties
- Coordinates the overall budget process for Metro Public Health Department.
- Assists program and bureau directors in preparing, maintaining, and revising operating budgets, revenue projections, and provides assistance for their budget requests.
- Monitors expenditures and revenue collections and advises bureau directors of potential problems.
- Manages and monitors grant and contract processes.
- Assures that required financial reports are prepared accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
- Prepares grant and contract budgets and advises bureau directors and program managers regarding issues related to grant or contract budgets and expenditures.
- Assists the bureau directors by coordinating special projects.
- Other duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience that would prepare the incumbent to perform the duties of the position at the appropriate level. Employees would typically have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university and thorough experience in professional finance including considerable experience as a supervisor.
Valid driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge and experience of R12 system with regard to budgeting and general ledger functions
- Knowledge of Federal and State grants; including, but not limited to, reporting requirements and reimbursements
- Ability to analyze situations fully and accurately and reach data-driven and productive decisions.
- Able to express ideas in a clear, concise, and effective manner, whether speaking or in writing. Uses correct grammar and sentence structure in communications.
- Knowledge of budget practices and procedures
- Knowledge of the principles and procedures used in accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and/or auditing process.Ability to perform cost/benefit analyses, usage, and other kinds of analyses.
