Position Description
The Office of Homeless Services (OHS) serves as the Nashville-Davidson County lead for planning and coordination to build a Housing Crisis Resolution System. In this Grants Coordinator role, OHS seeks to obtain and maintain resources necessary for our role and to help develop the resources necessary in the community to create an effective Housing Crisis Resolution System. Grants are a crucial component in this process. This position will be supervised by the Assistant Director or a designee and will work closely with OHS staff and partners.
The Office of Homeless Services is dedicated to improving efforts to end homelessness by harnessing local data to shape program and system design using a “systems thinking” approach.
Typical Duties
- Liaise, along with the Director, with Metro entities such as Metro Legal, Metro Finance, Mayor’s Office, and Metro Council for the approval of grant contracts and to update on the status of current contracts.
- Oversee the management of all grants awarded to OHS with a primary focus on grants necessary for fulfilling the mission of the Office of Homeless Services, including grant spending and the required reporting and completion of annual recurring applications for the Housing and Urban Development Continuum of Care grants.
- Monitor local, state, and federal grant funding announcements to determine opportunities for funding that would benefit the mission to build a Housing Crisis Resolution System in Nashville-Davidson County and help inform strategic decision making at the Continuum of Care level.
- Complete grant applications as approved by the Office of Homeless Services Director.
- Coordinate with the Office of Homeless Services Assistant Director of Finance and Administration and Metro Grants Department to fulfill Metro requirements for grant applications.
- Monitor and audit Office of Homeless Services community contracts with Park Center, Room in the Inn, and any other future contracts as needed.
- Understand Continuum of Care and Emergency Solution Grants, support the Office of Homeless Services & Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) with performance review as needed, and help with community capacity building.
- Write quarterly grants report including outcomes and progress of all department grants.
- Assist with the community resource evaluation that will be needed by the Continuum of Care to outline resource priorities on an annual basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Driver License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in grant writing
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in homeless programs, program evaluation and outcome measurement
