METROPOLITAN KNOXVILLE AIRPORT AUTHORITY
The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) was established in 1978 as a nonprofit agency to own and operate the city's aviation system, McGhee Tyson Airport and Downtown Island Airport, and has recently celebrated a full 87-years in service to the East Tennessee area. Being centrally located within a one day's drive or a few hours flight from major cities, MKAA continues to be integral to the air transportation system. The Position:
The purpose of the Facility Electrician is to perform skilled work in the installation, operations, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, and related electro-mechanical systems, in accordance with applicable electrical industry standards. Inspects and tests elements of electrical systems to locate and diagnose faults and malfunctions. Repairs and replaces parts and rewires circuits. Calculates circuit loads, interprets electrical diagrams, and determines methods and requirements for wiring circuits. Maintains records of installations and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Performs inspections and repairs of airport areas, security gates, terminal lights, and employee work areas.
- Responds to electrical and mechanical emergencies on airport property.
- Makes repairs to complicated electrical wiring, working from blueprints and construction specifications, and prioritizes projects.
- Performs preventative and corrective electrical maintenance for Airport Authority buildings, facilities, and street lighting systems in accordance with codes, standards, and other requirements.
- Electrical troubleshooting and repair of boarding bridges, bag belts, bag lifts, air compressors, circulator pumps, boilers, and other various equipment.
- Performs inspections and repairs of high mast lighting.
- Performs related work as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of modern office practices and equipment, including applicable software; Electrical code and safety protocols; Public safety; Airport machines, operations, and processes. He or she must be able to organize and manage time wisely; have excellent verbal and written communication; be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships; read and understand blueprints; work well independently; have the ability to work in stressful situations; be skilled in assisting with emergency repairs, and be able to work at heights above 30'.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's degree in electrical engineering or successful completion of a certified 4- or 5-year Electrician Journeyman apprenticeship program; or equivalent years of relevant experience.
- 3-to-5 years' experience in high and low voltage electrical systems repair with experience in industrial maintenance.
- Must be able to obtain an Electrical license (LLE) or City of Knoxville Electrical Maintenance Class 3 license within 24-months of hiring.
Salary and Compensation:
The hiring range for this position is $56,867.48 to $73,927.72, Final salary will depend on experience. MKAA offers a very competitive benefits package for this position, including medical/dental/vision benefits, disability/life insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, 401(a)-retirement program.
