METROPOLITAN KNOXVILLE AIRPORT AUTHORITY
The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) was established in 1978 as a nonprofit agency to own and operate the city's aviation system, McGhee Tyson Airport and Downtown Island Airport, and has recently celebrated a full 87-years in service to the East Tennessee area. Being centrally located within a one day's drive or a few hours flight from major cities, MKAA continues to be integral to the air transportation system. The Position:
As a Customer Service Representative for MKAA, this position assists airport tenants and passengers with customer service requests, including but not limited to, pushing of wheelchairs and use of airport passenger cart assistance, answering customer and visitor questions regarding the facility and its services; assists the Marketing and Public Relations Department with special events and logistics. Assists passengers and guests with information requests, including but not limited to, tourism, airport facilities, ground transportation, airlines, security, baggage issues, and directions. Responsible for maintaining information booth and tourism brochures, including monitoring inventory and stocking brochures. Monitors and answers the customer service and LEP (Limited English Proficiency) service phone line.
***PLEASE NOTE - position averages 24-28hrs/wk. - we are currently hiring for the following two schedules:
- Schedule 1: Thursday 1pm-5pm, Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 9am-5pm
- Schedule 2: Friday 1-8pm, Saturday 1-8pm, Sunday 1-8pm, Monday 11am-6pm
Responsibilities:
- Assists airline passengers with wheelchair or cart service to/from gates and throughout the TSA process and assists in any passenger needs. Keeps wheelchairs and carts sanitized and clean.
- Provides information to and answers questions from passengers and airport guests regarding airport facilities, security, TSA, ground transportation, airlines, baggage issues, directions, and tourism information. Answers customer service phone line for airport tenants, employees, and the public and responds to requests for service or assistance.
- Assists the public relations department with logistics for the public and airport tenants during special events.
- Maintains the information booth, provides information, and answers passenger questions.
- Performs related work as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position must physically be able to push wheelchairs, when necessary, to transport passengers who need wheelchair assistance. They should have general knowledge of the airport facilities and layout, local tourism, directions, and general airport information. Having previous experience in customer service, the candidate must be able to demonstrate patience, resourcefulness, compassion, empathy, possess a professional and friendly demeanor, and be able to speak and write clearly. This job requires frequent movement from one work location to another with tolerance for being on your feet during work shifts, pushing up to 100 pounds frequently and lifting to 50 pounds occasionally, if necessary. With frequent bending, twisting, stooping, turning, and overhead reaching, this position is sometimes exposed to individuals who are hostile, have communicable diseases, and loud noises.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent, and less than 1-year experience in customer service and providing information to the public.
Salary and Compensation:
This is a part-time position with a salary of $14.00/hour. ***NOTE: This is a part-time position, therefore, does not receive any benefits package.
