This temporary position is for a 90 day assignment, working at least 20 hours a week, with the option to work up to 40 hours a week.
The Health Information Technician is responsible for preparing and maintaining patient medical records in a timely and accurate manner, using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Retrieve records and release information to patients, physicians, and staff as requested.
Essential Functions
- Prep, scan, categorize, and verify scanned medical documentation into patients' Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Coordinate and process all medical record releases and patient record transfers, including, but not limited to, DHS, attorney, and SSI requests.
- Scan, file, and destroy paper charts according to the destruction policy.
- Adhere to processing requirements of all time sensitive materials and requests.
- Provide additional administrative support by processing mail and completing print jobs.
- Interact with internal and external customers in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Answer the telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
- Successfully work closely with others in a team setting.
- Attend and actively participate in huddles and team meetings.
- Maintain an organized workspace in a shared environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times.
- Work closely with others in a team setting.
- Display high standards of office conduct.
