- Enables student-athletes to perform to their physical potential in their sport through the development and management of individual and group weight, strength and fitness training programs; develops programs by evaluating current physical conditioning, having a knowledge of the various sports and associated exercises, tailoring strength programs for specific needs, demonstrating proper performance of exercises, correcting mistakes; manages programs by monitoring progress and providing an assessment of development.
- Reduces the likelihood of sports-related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training session and pre- contest preparations and warm ups, and working with qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers during all training sessions and contests.
- Promotes a positive image of the high school athletics program and the North Central High School by participating in professional organizations, representing the high school at professional meetings.
- Interacts with students and parents appropriate with the five-step discipline policy and the physical education department no dress policy.
- Supervises students in the locker room and classroom before, during, and after class.
- Supervises students during the summer during predetermined times scheduled by the Department Chairperson of Physical Education and/or Director of Athletics.
- Abides by and complies with Indiana High School Athletic Association and North Central rules, academic standards, requirements, and policies of the high school, and all guidelines and policies of the Athletics department and reports any concerns of compromise or violation of rules, standards, guidelines or policies to the Department Chair of Physical Education.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Responsible for maintaining the strength and conditioning facility, and for establishing policies, plans, and procedures for the safe and professional operation of the facility.
- Uses appropriate language at all times around the students, teachers, and parents. Always exhibits ethical and moral behavior at all times.
- Works closely with the athletic trainers and follows their recommendation regarding participation of injured students/student athletes in their class.
- Attends meetings as necessary and as directed.
- Understands the legal responsibilities and duties of a teacher as established by North Central High School.
- Contributes to the overall success of the high school’s athletics program by performing all other duties and responsibilities as set forth by the Department Chairperson of Physical Education or Director of Athletics.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communications skills. Candidates must be a positive role model, and interact positively with student, colleagues, and the public. Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for high school populations. The ability to assess students through both written and physical work is mandatory. It is essential that the High School Strength and Conditioning Coach exhibit ethical and moral behavior at all times.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree required, but Teacher’s license highly preferred. Must have certification in Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). A current professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency. Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
