Overview
Essential Functions:
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assigns and oversees the work of resident inspectors, construction inspector seniors, construction inspectors, consultant inspection personnel, administrative support staff
- visits construction sites to view progress of work; confers with contractors, consulting engineers, land developers, public officials and the general public as necessary
- oversees the daily contract management of projects where applicable
- oversees final inspections and dedication inspections for recommended construction approval or corrections and escrow release
- check all periodic and final quantity estimates on contract work before payment is made or reviews all final documentation on development projects prior to final acceptance
- assists in the development and preparation of detailed Capital Improvement Program (CIRP) project schedules and costs
- prepares annual CIRP budget supplement; assists in the development and preparation of departmental operating budgets

Responsibilities
Qualifications
Training and Experience:- Highschool diploma/GED
- Completion of 30 college credit hours
- Five years of experience in the construction and inspection of sewers
OR
- Highschool diploma/GED
- Completion of the American Public Works Association's (APWA) Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector II Certification
- Five years of experience in the construction and inspection of sewers
Desirable Knowledge. Skills and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and techniques involved in sewer construction;
- Thorough knowledge of standard engineering field tests
- Skill in interpreting plans and specifications
- Skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors, consulting engineers, public officials, the general public and others
- Skill in expressing oneself clearly and concisely in both oral and written form
- Skill in maintaining records and preparing reports
- Ability to assign and oversee the work of construction inspectors
- Familiarity with use of personal computer and department hardware and software
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee
resides.
