Job Description
Under direction, oversee and participate in responsible sub-professional engineering work in inspecting the construction of sewers and sewer structures for the District.
Essential Functions:
Inspection of multiple concurrent sewer and facility projects under District contract
Interpreting detailed construction plans and specifications
Preparation of quantities and calculations to be used in monthly pay applications
Meeting with applicable stakeholders throughout the construction of a project
Investigation of customer service inquiries
Additional Responsibilities:
May approve minor grade and elevation changes
Maintain records and prepare reports
Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisor
Qualifications
Training and Experience:
High school diploma/GED
Four (4) years of experience in the construction and inspection of sewers.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, practices and techniques involved in the construction of sewers and sewer structure
Considerable knowledge of standard engineering field tests
Skill in estimating quantities and quality of construction materials
Skill in the use of level and transit
Skill in forming and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors and the general public
Skill in supervising the work of others
Skill in maintaining records and preparing reports
Completion of specialized college-level course work in civil engineering subjects such as mathematics, calculus, construction, etc. preferred,
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which the employee resides.
Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as non-safety sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
Must be able to provide transportation for fieldwork.
