What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surveyor Associate position at Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District?
Job Description
Under direct supervision, the Surveyor Associate will perform office and field work associated with the preparation and review of survey / legal documents related to property purchases, engineering, construction, topographic, boundary and engineering surveys, as well as the occasional oversight and participation in the related fieldwork.
Essential Functions :
Office Work :
- Preparation and review of survey documents of in-house and contract personnel.
- Enter, compute and verify field data and record property information with AutoCAD
- Prepare construction documents; research and prepare survey documents such as Right-of-Way strip maps, easements, legal descriptions and other documents.
- Help solve problems and participate in surveying projects.
- Maintain records and prepare reports; meet with engineers and survey consultants, and in-house personnel to enforce and assure correctness and overall consistency of District documents.
- Assist in processing of documents necessary in purchasing property such as, but not limited to executing closing documents, processing invoices, coordinating utility shutoffs, and generating demolition specifications.
Field Work :
Additional Responsibilities : Perform related work as required or as delegated by supervisors.
Qualifications
Training and Experience :
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT :
Licensed Surveyor in Training (SIT).
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state in which employee resides.
Pursuant to MSD's "Substance Abuse Policy and Procedures," this position has been designated as safety-sensitive and candidate must pass a Non-D.O.T. Drug Test for this position. Employees occupying this position are not subject to Federal (D.O.T.) Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations.
